I was so relieved to find a contractor like Ian to Help me convert my new studio into a stylish one bedroom sanctuary. I’ve worked with other renovation and design professionals in NYC but not at the level of trust and consideration that Ian and I had. He offered very creative solutions within my budget such as an extra-wide windowed sliding door into the bedroom, shelving in a converted closet, two alcoves where I could install custom shelves and a quick solution to an IKEA-cabinet quandary. “Handyman extraordinaire” Ian Scott recently finished a fantastic renovation of my living room. Sensitive to the fact that my building dates from 1929, and is landmarked, he was able to update the physical look of the space without removing any of its charm.
Among the many things he did:
- Fixed a multitude of cracks on the walls and ceiling, as well as within window frames. Skimmed areas prior to priming and painting.
- Reattached areas of baseboard that had pulled away over the years; and did the same with a “French wall” — all windows — that was pulling away from the wall.
- Renovated an old, very large steel bathroom door by removing the full-length mirror that covered one side, surrounding it with a new wood frame and reinserting it.
- Changed the hardware on three doors.
- Installed a new canopy for a chandelier.
- Drilled a hole on a marble wall in the bathroom to hang a large painting.
- Primed and painted the walls.
- Painted the mullions of vast expanses of windowed walls.
Ian is dedicated, takes pride in his work, is meticulous and always cleaned up thoroughly before leaving for the day. In addition, he is punctual and thoughtful, and offers very reasonable rates.

I had first hired Mr. Scott over two years ago to help with work I needed done to my apartment. Mr. Scott has always shown up on time and been extremely efficient.
We discussed in length before our appointment what materials I would need. If I did not have them, he would make sure he brought whatever was needed to complete the job.
Each job I had hired him for was done very professionally. I could not have been happier with having employed Mr. Scott for various job over a consecutive two year period.
